The first appointment may take between 30 minutes and an hour starting with filling out a short information form (bring a list of medications you take daily). Then, you will meet with your Denturist who will review your current oral health and address any concerns you may have. The oral exam will include your teeth, gums, jaw joints, and your current dentures if present. Your Denturist will then create a comprehensive treatment plan based on the oral exam, study models, x-rays and if nessessary, referrals to other dental/medical specialists.
On average, from start to finish, it can take 4 - 6 appointments. Depending on appointment availability, Dentures can be made in as little as less than two weeks. With complex cases where referrals or even surgical procedures are recommended, it will obviously add to the time. You will receive a rough idea and appointment breakdown during the consultation appointment.
Standard Dentures are comfortable and have good function. They are made with standard teeth to match the average patients expectations. They are built on the first impression that is taken and set up on a non-adjustable articulator which is a device used to position the upper and lower arches in relation to each other and replicates the average jaw motions to achieve general function.
Precision Dentures provide a great fit and excellent function. They are fabricated using premium teeth, including a custom extensive tooth shape and shade selection appointment. Functional impression are taken to maximize the stability and retention. The dentures are then built on a precise adjustable articulator which is a device used to position the models of your upper and lower arches in true relation to each other and is then fine tuned to replicate your jaw mobility to be able to make the dentures function as accurately as possible.
Dental implants are the best way of replacing missing teeth. Nothing will truly replace a tooth but a well oseointegrated implant is the closest you can get. There are many removable and non-removable options available when it comes to implant supports. Read the implant section on our services page to learn more. Your Denturist will develop a treatment plan and provide you with a referral form. Then he will recommended you to a trusted Dental Surgeon or to one that is in your area.
Partial dentures are split into categories depending on how many teeth are remaining and their position. They can be made of many different materials: Denture acrylic, metal alloy, nylon or even a combination. The best partial in regards to function and stability are cast metal dentures.
A partial denture can't always rely on suction and engaging adjacent teeth, especially if dry mouth and lack of tooth undercuts exist. In these cases, hooks (AKA clasps) can be very helpful. A clasp is able to safely grab onto the undercut (bulge) of a tooth and keep the denture in place so that it cant fall out on its own or while you are eating. Although clasps my be slightly visible when you smile, most people wont realize them. Having a partial denture secured in place by clasps will not only give you better function, but will also give you confidence knowing that it wont fall out easily.
Before we begin our treatment plan, medical tests will be required to confirm the allergy. If a metal partial denture is chosen, Titanium works best as it is considered a non-allergenic material. As for denture acrylic, there is a special dense nylon material available to substitute for the base plate of the denture.
